This Sunday Nels and I played in a couple’s golf tournament at Bougainvillea Golf Club. What a wonderful day. The sun was out, perfect temperature, just a beautiful day. As we were playing I couldn’t help but think about how lucky we are. That morning we rode our horses, now we were out golfing. I was very thankful to be out there enjoying the day, the company of my husband and life! With the challenges in the economy, I don’t personally know anyone who has not been negatively affected by it in some way. We often we get caught up in the bad stuff and forget to appreciate and be grateful for what we have. As we got closer to finishing, a gentleman in his 70’s who was helping out was talking to us as we waited to Tee off. He said one thing that he has learned in all his years that he didn’t know when he was younger, is that the greatest thing in life is giving. To have the feelings and joy that giving gives back to you. It wasn’t money or things, it was giving that he thought was the most important thing in life. For Nels and I we can relate. That feeling that you get is really something. And it doesn’t necessarily need to be money or a lot of energy and time that you give, sometimes it is just the little things. Don’t forget to be grateful for what you have and will have in the future. And if you really want to warm your heart give something…even if it is just a smile.
A quick follow up from my last blog. Last time I shared my challenges with mounted shooting and my plan. Well, my horse showed a little improvement on Sunday and I didn’t have to make him work hard. He actually had some moments of staying with me. We did make a little progress. Now I may be the biggest challenge. Trusting him to stay with me and relaxing when I shoot. Now I have to really in tune and trust that him, and trust that I will know when to let him go and when to pull him back. I will keep you posted!
